Tunbridge Wells butcher joins national Q Guild

Peter Speaight Butchers in Tunbridge Wells has been awarded membership of the national Butchers Q Guild.

The Chapel Street business joins an exclusive group of 120 award-winning independent butchers across the UK. The Q Guild brand is held aloft as a seal of excellence, with some of the highest quality butchers in the country figuring among its growing numbers.

Peter Speaight is the second generation of the Speaight family to lead the business, which was established by his father, also Peter, in 1972. Son Peter took over in his own right in 1984 and opened the current shop in 2008.

It has built a reputation for supplying excellent quality local meat in a helpful, friendly and welcoming environment, where quality and service are key.

Speaight`s suppliers are small, specialist producers, farming free-range, organic and traditional ways. The shop boasts a fantastic selection of local Kent and Sussex meats, as well as specialising in seasonal wild game.

It is situated in the old grade 11 listed village area of Royal Tunbridge Wells and draws from the surrounding Kent `Garden of England.`

The shop also features a well-renowned delicatessen, providing both locals and tourists with a wide selection of cooked meats, cheeses, pies and baguettes.

Peter Speaight said: `We are very happy to join the Butchers Q Guild, as the emphasis on quality and service is essential throughout the membership. It also gives us an opportunity to network with like-minded butchers nationwide who are at the very top of their game.

`We are confident this exchange of knowledge and expertise will equip us with both inspiration and ideas for new products and other initiatives that we can then introduce into our own shop. In fact, we feel membership will prove extremely valuable when it comes to the future progression of our own business in general.`
