Situated only 7 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne on the beautiful Blagdon Estate in the stunning Northumberland countryside, our farm shop is filled with delicious food. We have over 50 local producers on our shelves complimented by some of the finest names from not only the British Isles but also further afield.
You will find our own award winning craft butchery, bakehouse as well as a huge grocery selection with everything from mouth-watering handmade puddings, local beers, biscuit’s and cakes and a fantastic selection of condiments.
The farm here at Blagdon covers 2500 acres (1250 football pitches)
of beautiful South East Northumberland countryside and is part of
The Blagdon Estate, home of the Ridley family.
The farm grows wheat, barley, beans and oilseed rape as well producing milk for Northumberland Cheese Company. The farm uses environmentally sensitive methods and was one the first LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) farms in the country. It now supplies the shop with Beef, Pork, Poultry, Game and Vegetables all grown and raised in free range and high welfare systems.
Since opening in 2002 we have been fortunate to have won numerous awards, not only for our delicious food but also for our customer service as well as for our commitment to local food and sensitive, environmental farming.
We have twice been named National Butchers Shop of the year, elected Local Food hero for the North of England and have been finalists and highly commended in other national competitions.
Our food has won numerous “Great Taste Awards” (the food Oscars) the latest being for our Wild Roe Venison Loin which the Judges described as “a fabulously tender fillet with deep, rich, lasting game flavour, yet not too iron-heavy. The flavour lasts an eternity (pleasingly so!). One of us was transported to a fine restaurant and is still in a reverie... “
