Members enjoy a "Chatsworth(y)", "Taylor-made" visit!

As September took hold, Q Guild members in turn took up the generous invitations from Chatsworth House Farm Shop and Owen Taylor and Sons Ltd to have a look round their respective operations.

Chatsworth Farm Shop's General Manager Liam Spivey revealed the progress made since since 1977 when the original purpose that led to Chatsworth becoming the byword for high-end farm-shops. With an established and impressive £2m butchery and fish retail operation, members were impressed with the keen eye Liam kept on the key challenges and opportunities identified and how they could impact on clear ambitions Liam had for the future growth of this much-admired business.

Thereafter Owen Taylor and Sons CEO Richard Taylor guided his visitors through a potted history of the 100 year origins and development of his family's business before taking them through the existing food service operation which had now outgrown capacity sited as it was at the rear of the retail operation. A short 5-minute car journey however found visitors arrive at the solution - a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which had recently commenced operation. As visitors observed the streamlined sausage and burger production, they could only imagine what Richard had in store for vacant land opposite which Richard advised was to be location of a new facility to create the additional capacity required for future growth.
