Cherrington Farm Butchers awarded Q Guild membership
Cherrington Farm has been run by the Crow family since 1851. Nowadays the family are committed to practising environmentally friendly farming practices and rearing happy grass-fed animals that are allowed to grow naturally. Along with its Cherrington cattle, the farm rears Zwartble lamb, a popular breed amongst chefs for its slow grown, flavoursome and lean meat.
Q Guild Chairman David Lishman said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Cherrington Farm Butchers to the Q Guild. Cherrington, like our other members, is an inspiration in terms of knowledge, skills and above all, quality and is a valuable part of the country’s food and retail landscape. I look forward to their participation in regional meetings, social and product evaluation events.”
The Q Guild has over 100 members based across the UK: from Inverness to Cornwall, serving £5 million worth of outstanding meat and related products to over a quarter of a million discerning UK consumers every week.
Carrying the Q Guild brand sends out a strong message that they are one of Britain’s best butchers, committed to unsurpassed quality, craftsmanship and customer service.
Q Guild butchers must pass a regular audit of all aspects of their business to become members.
The audit is conducted by the Q Guild as well as Shoppers Anonymous and is in addition to a minimum Food Standards Agency EHO rating of 4 or 5*. The Q stands for quality and consumers can be assured of quality meat, meat products, hygiene and service when they shop at a Q butcher. Q Guild butchers can be identified by the green Q sign that hangs outside their shops.
The Q Guild runs the Smithfield Awards and the National BBBQ Awards annually. The awards recognise Q Guild members’ best butchery products – the very best meats and meat products from Britain’s best butchers.
