Cherrington Farm Butchers awarded Q Guild membership
One of Shropshire’s most popular family butchers, Cherrington Farm Butchers in Shawbury, has been made a member of the exclusive Q Guild of Butchers. The Q Guild is a seal of excellence marking Britain’s best butchers and represents an elite group of the finest quality independent meat retailers in Britain. It is synonymous with skill, craftsmanship and above all, quality.
Cherrington Farm has been run by the Crow family since 1851. Nowadays the family are committed to practising environmentally friendly farming practices and rearing happy grass-fed animals that are allowed to grow naturally. Along with its Cherrington cattle, the farm rears Zwartble lamb, a popular breed amongst chefs for its slow grown, flavoursome and lean meat.

Q Guild butchers must pass a regular audit of all aspects of their business to become members.
The audit is conducted by the Q Guild as well as Shoppers Anonymous and is in addition to a minimum Food Standards Agency EHO rating of 4 or 5*. The Q stands for quality and consumers can be assured of quality meat, meat products, hygiene and service when they shop at a Q butcher. Q Guild butchers can be identified by the green Q sign that hangs outside their shops.
The Q Guild runs the Smithfield Awards and the National BBBQ Awards annually. The awards recognise Q Guild members’ best butchery products – the very best meats and meat products from Britain’s best butchers.
